Thanh Thanh has been my preferred Pho stop for some time now. It’s very casual Asian dining, tables turn fast and it’s always busy when I go there. My usual order is Pho Tai or Pho Tai Nam (rare beef and cooked beef). The rare beef slices are so tender when they briefly cook as hot soup is poured over. Today we felt like a change.
We ordered some grilled pork meatballs but I wasn’t bowled over by it, rather salty and didn’t have that all rounded balanced flavour.
Mr Foodie went for Bun Bo Hue because spicy beef soup is all the flavour that man wants. As usual the broth had great depth of flavour and we were both slurping up the soup. I’m sure our hair will fall out from all the salt later but it’s so good. I took a chance and went for their Combination Rice instead. It comes with roast pork, pork chop, fried egg, omelette, shredded pork and pickles. I like having different things to pick at because it seems more interesting. Hence my enjoyment of bento sets. The pork chop was a bit tough while the roast pork wasn’t crispy. I think I’ll stick to the pho next time.
