This is one of those discoveries I didn’t want to share with anyone but I guess it’s no secret anyway. Our first visit there was too late. I was kicking myself for not having discovered this place earlier. Almost a little hidey-hole with an unsuspecting doorway, it’s easy to miss this place. Except there’s a line outside waiting for a table so you just know it’s there. We walked down the narrow hallway with bar seats to one side and entered a secret world. The livelihood in this place is electric. Behold – C.R.E.A.M. Brighton.
To say these guys are fans of Wu-Tang Clan is an understatement. Yep you guessed it, memorabilia on the walls and hip-hop music blasting inside. We nabbed a seat on the big share table in the middle. We came here for one thing, one thing that is so Insta-worthy it drew us here.
The Hotcake Stack is so amazing we had the whole table watching Mr Foodie eat it. Seriously guys, look away. You can get a single, two or three stack with your choice of topping. There’s maple bacon, fried chicken or seasonal fruit and ice cream (pffft). Thinking we’d be modest we ordered the 2 stack. Should’ve gone for the 3, stretchy pants and calories totally worth it. Of course we went for fried chicken. The serving is generous, with three juicy pieces of ridiculously tasty fried chicken. What is in that seasoning!
It also comes with ample Maple Syrup. Here’s the thing, there are so many joints that don’t give you enough maple syrup. They drizzle it on top and it looks all nice for the photos and stuff but when you’ve eaten your first pancake there’s nothing left and you finish dry. The struggle is real. At C.R.E.A.M. oh there’s enough alright. Diet out the window and every last drop of maple syrup poured. Just to illustrate how good it was, here’s another picture – again.
I also ordered some Corn Fritters with grilled tomatoes. It came with a lovely Avocado salsa and a wedge of lime. The avocado salsa was absolutely delicious! In the time I was there I was food watching everything that came out of the kitchen. Next on the list – Donut Breakfast Sandwich (I know!!), Ploughman’s Brunch, Baked Eggs, Cubanos Baguette and O.D.B Sandwich. Also, stretchy pants next time.
Definitely a place to go time and time again. The staff, the vibe, the food, the coffee, everything is on point. By the way, C.R.E.A.M. stands for Coffee Rules Everything Around Me.
