There were whispers in the wind of a burger so big and awesome coming up that I quested to find it. Upon delving deep into the caverns of Facebook I saw the advertisement for the Walking Dead Burger on Wednesday 25th May at Burger Republic and swore to myself I would slay that beast. The day arrived and I had trained my stomach to conquer such a beast and my true test began. The lovely maiden at the counter let me know the secrets of this creature telling me stories of FIVE x beef patties, FIVE x cheese and fries on the side. If that wasn’t enough it was to be topped with chips and onion rings drenched in ample sauce. I announced I was ready to meet my maker and thus began a delicious food challenge.
The burger was presented in all its glory with the cheese cascading down the perfectly cooked beefy patties. I needed a strategy to eat it and I hopelessly assaulted it front on only to graze my teeth against the meaty mountain. A sharp recollection of a past hero I saw take down a similar monster used the corn on the cob approach. The burger was tilted horizontally and I began rotating it around like a corn and working that bad boy down. The beef pattys had a lovely pink center and for such a large burger the quality was still maintained. There was some relish to break it up though a few extra tangy pickles would have helped me out. The beef patty did dominate the palate and that’s why some sharp flavours would have been an asset in refreshing the mouth. Pickles aside I soldiered on and finished it whole. I will admit I hit struggle-town about two thirds in and I had also skipped lunch for this! After such a feat I was given a high five and a nod of approval from Foodie Ling. For this type of burger this was the place to take it on as the ingredients were quality and it came out promptly. To help me in this quest I took a Lobethal Pilsner as my shield and it protected me from the meaty punches delivered.
The Walking Dead Burger did make a zombie out of me as my food coma was very obvious but I loved every minute of it.
