It was during BBQ weather that I felt like going on a tropical holiday in my backyard so thought I would try out Matso’s Mango Beer and escape to an exotic location. This is in my mind as I thought I should point out by no means are there any teleportation-like powers as side effects of this beer.
To myself I think that Matso’s are the Dr Frankenstein of the beer community. They are willing to push the boundaries and explore what creations they can breathe life into. I love the creativity and I think this one is more beauty than a beast. As the name boldly states it is a mango beer and it is very evident in the taste. I love mango so I was expecting a mango style radler and that is exactly what I got. The carbonation level is midway which is nice to quench the thirst yet not too much to give it a cheap feel. It is a Belgium blonde style beer and while it has a sweet flavour I would say it was more of a dry sweetness. It is not a sickly drink so don’t fear!
I had this with a lovely peri-peri butterflied chicken and corn which worked really well. I would look at this as a radler so if you are in the mood for a beer but really want a sweet treat too I would pick this. I cannot see myself polishing off a full six pack in a sitting but it was a nice experience to try.
