This whopper of a stout stomps in at 5.4% alcohol and is classed as a dessert stout. I first had this at Burger Republic and was very keen to try after seeing it posted on social media. The power of suggestion! My first reaction was thinking “Wow! This tastes like a Golden Gay Time!!” The penny dropped and I realized why it was called Golden Stout Time…..
It is a very nice stout and the aroma is a fragrant scent of toffee and honeycomb. The taste is not as intense so don’t worry about it tasting like a homemade cocktail made from cheap mixers when you were 16, I mean 18! The toffee taste is the dominant one coming through with a hint of honeycomb. The carbonation is medium to low which is what you want from a stout. The bitterness is low so it is a stout that could please a wider demographic. I love a bit of creativity in brewing and this one paid off so if you see it in a bottle shops or eateries then give it a go. If I see this again I will enjoy it after my main as you always save the best to last!
