It was an Autumn’s evening and we had just tasted the best yiros in Adelaide. Walking back to our car we passed this charming créperie that literally spelled seize the day. Seize the day we did and went in for dessert. The place was packed, there were people waiting for tables, some just getting pastries to go, a lovely vibrant atmosphere in this cafe that transports you to Paris.
The decor is very Parisian, with lovely table and dinnerware. I liked the plates and mugs very much, somehow made me feel like I was dining in the French countryside. We ordered our coffees and I picked a lemon tart from their selection of pastries.
It was a lovely citrus tart, tangy and light. The filling is very smooth while the tart case is just how I like it, not overly sweet. Meanwhile, Mr. Foodie was deciding over which Crépe to have.
If you didn’t want coffee, juices and tea are available. We were a little excited by the choices on the crépe menu, first you decide if you want sweet or savoury (gallettes). We were told that all their savoury crépe dough contain no sugar, egg or milk and uses Buckwheat flour which is gluten free. I’d love to come back one day to try a savoury one with fillings like cheese, nuts, tomato, avocado, salmon, ham and so more there’s no doubt.
Crépe Reinette Double $20
Alas we were here for dessert so Mr. Foodie decided on a double serve of Crépe Reinette. The crépes were beautiful, nice texture topped with caramelized apple, house made salted caramel, cinnamon, vanilla ice cream, créme fraiche, melted Belgian chocolate and toasted almonds. Quite a delight, no, very much a delight to eat.
This find just showed us how much more there is to discover in Adelaide, we need to get out more! As if we are not out enough but it really shows, the list never ends. My long running list of places to try. We give this place the thumbs up, go check it out!
