It’s not very often I head down this far south but a trip to Aldinga on business presented the perfect opportunity to try this recommended place. Victory Hotel is located in Sellicks Beach overlooking the beach where you can watch the sunset through full length glass windows while enjoying wine and oysters. The view is majestic. There is also an alfresco dining area with cafe blinds and heaters for the colder months that’s just as lovely.

The one thing I forgot to do was bring my camera so out came the phone and I must say, the lighting there gave me rather interesting results! Victory Hotel boasts using fresh and seasonal ingredients in their kitchen and it certainly shows in the food. We had a lovely experience that night right from the Kilpatrick Oysters. This is definitely my favourite way to have oysters – with bacon and Worcestershire sauce. Their version was super fresh and delicious it left us wanting more.
In line with the shellfish theme we also ordered half a dozen of scallops. These scallops were beautiful! Cooked perfectly, juicy and fresh it was almost sweet! I’ve never had scallops served with citrus salad of apple, orange, blood orange, cress and herbs before but it was absolutely scrumptious.
Grilled Scallops with Citrus Salad
Grain Fed Margaret River Eye Fillet with Chips, Broccolini, Warm Chorizo & Roast Capsicum Salsa and Jus. The steak was cooked perfectly to our liking of medium rare. Tender, flavoursome and juicy it just melted in our mouths. The dish on the menu actually comes with fried polenta cake but Mr. Foodie likes chips better so they kindly swapped that for us. A chorizo and roast capsicum salsa was a nice, unique addition to this delicious steak dish.

I’m glad we finally got to dine here and must say I do agree with the recommendations! I’d love to go back in the middle of summer when daylight lingers for that much longer to enjoy the views.
