Another year has flown by and Christmas is already here! We hope that everyone is taking some time out of the mad rush to get everything done to enjoy the festivities and Christmas atmosphere this time of the year. This year Mr. Foodie decided he wanted to make some Christmas ham so I thought I’d share this super easy recipe with you guys.
Here he is ready to skin and score the ham! This ham is a double smoked ham so we don’t need to cook it first. First, preheat the oven to about 180 degrees Celcius. Next, sharpen your knife and cut the skin off leaving the nice layer of fat on the ham.
After removing the skin, score the fat in a criss cross fashion and stick cloves in it for fragrance and just because it looks so pretty! My Orange and Honey Glaze is super easy and lazy. Simply mix 100mL orange juice, 100mL honey and 50mL brandy. Glaze the ham and place it in the oven to bake for a total time of about 1 hour 30 minutes. Remember to glaze the ham every 10 to 15 minutes for that wonderful flavour and golden brown finish.
Mr. Foodie got a bit carried away trying to garnish the ham but I must say he did a great job of it, it looks wonderful, smelt amazing and tasted very good.
We decided to serve our ham with some roast carrots, potatoes and sweet potatoes and pate stuffed mushrooms! That’s right, we got orange brandy pate and stuffed the mushrooms with them. You can either pan grill the mushrooms or just throw them in the oven as well. Juicy mushrooms with melted pate taste absolutely amazing.
That’s me signing off now for Christmas celebrations. We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and the best Christmas feast this season!
