Recently I was contacted by Crust Pizza again to introduce their new range of Upper Crust Pizzas. The last time I worked with them it was a lot of fun with theNinja Turtles Crust Dinner Party. Plus they were great pizzas so I gladly welcomed this opportunity. More low key this time, no party just great pizzas.
Once again my closest store was the Brighton branch which gave top customer service and did a great job. Without further due, here are the exciting new menu items.
Pizzas are here!
We were given four of their new menu items to try
Black Bean Burrito – black bean casserole, roasted capsicum, jalapenos, caramelised onions, fresh avocado salsa on a spicy tomato salsa base. Sour cream is optional.
This was Mexico in a bite. I must admit I have always been a fan of meat pizzas, never vegetarian but this really surprised me. There is a bit of heat to it from the spicy salsas and jalapenos but nothing too overpowering. Black bean taco on a pizza – definite winner!
Salt and Pepper Calamari – dusted calamari, roasted capsicum, shallots, pine nuts, pesto aioli and lemon
This worked really well together, it wasn’t dry at all. It had a fresh zingy taste to it and the pesto aioli was delicious.
BLT with Avocado Salsa – baby spinach layered with tomato and twice cooked bacon topped with fresh avocado salsa, garlic aioli, crached pepper and sea salt on a spinach and ricotta base.
A breakfast pizza?! BLT is a classic sure win combination and Crust pizza jazzed it up a bit to make a flavoursome juicy bite. This was our favourite pick of the night.
Pulled Pork and Slaw – twice cooked shredded pork and caramelised onions, fresh pear, vietnamese slaw and garlic aioli on a BBQ base.
Riding along with the popular American trend this pizza was pretty darn delicious. Lovely tender pork pieces on BBQ sauce with slaw to give it that crunch while the pear slices gave it a nice sweet finish. The only small issue I had was inhaling the whole slice of pear on my first bite. Presentation looks nice but maybe shredded pear might be more practical.
Thank you to Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar once again for providing us great pizzas and a great night in.

The pizzas were given to me at no cost but the opinions are my own.
