Probably a long time coming but I don’t get in the city much you see and if I do it’s usually for dinner after all the shops have closed. Eventually one day I went to suss out the new Apple store and visited the food court. I quite liked the layout and design of the Rundle Place Food Court – 77. Seating 500 people, 77 has a decent range of food vendors with the likes of Bing Boys, Fasta Pasta, Salsa’s Fresh Mex Grill, Taki Sushi, Yiros Plus, Tea House Yum Cha, Rheinland Bakery and more. Something for everyone. Burger Addiction has also become one of the talks of the town serving up scrumptious burgers made from quality ingredients. I am yet to try it though.
One of my favourite food outlet is Soonta Rolls! I love Bahn Mi (Vietnamese Roll) and Soonta Boys do a pretty decent one that Mr. Foodie loves too because they pack it full of meat. Their crispy roast pork is amazing, especially when they get a new slab out and cut it in front of you. The crunching sound makes me drool. Soonta offers choices of roast pork, teriyaki chicken, grilled chicken, fried chicken, BBQ Pork and vegetarian filling for their roll. They also offer salad bowls where you can pick the type of salad base you want then pick your meat choice, herbs, nuts and chilli. They’ve also started doing rice bowls with your choice of meat, steamed egg, pickles and salad trialling now at another branch. I really hope they bring it to all their branches.
The yummy crispy fried chicken Bahn Mi by Soonta, so crispy, delicious and fresh!
Next stop was Warong serving up Malaysian favourites such as Nasi Lemak, Roti, Laksa, Prawn Mee, Malaysian Curry Chicken and a few other delicious menu items. We decided to try the Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang (and extra sambal of course). Not too bad, the Nasi Lemak was nice but the beef rendang could be better.
With our bellies filled, it was time to wander around Rundle Place and the all new Harris Scarfe. It was huge but this lovely cafe setting caught my eye – 1849. I like the way they have designed it and I think it’s a great concept to have a cafe in such a large store as Harris Scarfe. Sometimes you just need to decide over a coffee! On one end of the “kitchen” is the well equipped cooking demonstration area.
I’m glad I finally got to visit Rundle Place and got my Soonta Roll. You see, a few of us have this Bahn Mi (Vietnamese Roll) addiction! See you next time!
