On to the mains. We had a pretty good time making hot dogs and nachos and overloading cheese sauce. First the tray starts off clean then topped with nachos, chilli con carne and cheese sauce. Yum. Round 1.
Round 2 – we discovered the toppings on the side and found the fried. Brought messy tray back to get fries and more nachos topped with chilli con carne, chesse sauce and jalapenos! Delicious!
My first hot dog was sauteed onions, grilled bacon, American mustard and Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce. Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce is one of our favourites in the house (along with Jim Beam and Budweiser BBQ Sauce). Now this hot dog was definitely better than the tourist traps that is NYC hot dog cart.
Mr. Foodie did a chilli cheese dog with jalapenos and grilled bacon filled to the brim because he didn’t realize the buns were pre-cut and tried to cut it himself the other way. That is one dirty hot dog I presume Mr. Foodie really enjoyed. There were many other toppings and sauces you could use such as coleslaw, raw onions, sauerkraut, pineapple, mayonnaise, tomato sauce and regular BBQ sauce.
It was almost time to make our way to Adelaide Entertainment Centre so we finished off with a mini pumpkin pie and mini cherry pie which were both yummy. Before I left I took a closer look at their cupcake and dessert fridge full of sweet temptations. These weren’t included in the buffet by the way. That would have been very dangerous. They had all sorts of cupcakes, velvet cupcakes, churros cupcakes, key lime, oreo, caramel, maple bacon pancake cupcakes, fudge pie and macarons. They also made a special America cake with the red, white and blue layers of cake. Clever idea for celebrations.
I’m glad we finally set foot in this place. Their regular menu consists of Mr. Foodie friendly food with hot dogs, burgers, milkshakes and waffles taking him back to our honeymoon experience. We might need to walk the 20+km there and back to burn off our meal. I’d like to come back and have breakfast or burger sometime in the near future. Lovely experience!
