I love a bit of seafood every now and then with prawns, scallops, oysters kilpatrick, squid….mmmm. I like all shellfish really, lobster and crab alike. I mean, one of my favourite pastas is Spaghetti Granchio (crab pasta). I’ve sat on this review for a while, don’t know why but just did. So, for some inexplicable reason we’ve always wanted to order a seafood sharing platter for two even though Mr. Foodie isn’t a huge fan of seafood, in the past 6 years that has come to change more and more. I decided it would be great as a birthday treat! Fish Glenelg is situated on the Marina in Glenelg so for a spring lunch it was the perfect setting dining alfresco with the warm sun, gentle sea breeze and amazing view.
We were getting pretty excited about the Seafood Platter for Two. When it arrived, it smelt pretty good and the serving was huge! It really encompassed many types of seafood in this platter. Starting from the top was marinated octopus and salad (because we should always eat our greens). Then came the salted chips (nom nom nom) and battered fish. We actually got five pieces of lovely fresh fish! Of course then there’s the salt and pepper squid, grilled scallops, fried white bait, prawns, mussels and oysters.
The mussels were done in a tomato based sauce and was really fresh. Mr. Foodie loved them!
You get two scallops and two oysters, both very fresh. The oysters come fresh as a standard but you can certainly ask them to do it kilpatrick style – my favourite!
Overall the seafood was fresh and the serving for two is generous. I’ve heard comments of food taking too long to arrive and we’ve had trouble in the past but on this occasion it was weekday lunch time and just two tables so we didn’t have any issues with timing.
