Following on from my Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner, on Chinese New Year Day we decided to go out for Chinese again. Being that there was only two of us at home, it probably cost me just as much to buy all the ingredients to make special dishes than to order at a restaurant. This time we set out for an earlier dinner at 6.00 pm just in case it gets packed out later. Cafe Kowloon was our restaurant of choice tonight. Cafe Kowloon serves up Hong Kong style Cantonese food offering yum cha and fresh live seafood. This place gets pretty busy especially on weekends with all their tables filled up. Service is pretty quick here and food comes out fast. While they do serve the usual Aussie favourites of sweet and sour pork, salt and pepper squid, sizzling beef and more, they have an extensive menu of authentic Chinese favourites. When we got there a few tables were already reserved and set up for the banquet. The banquet menu looked pretty good but we have just come off the back of two Chinese weddings in Malaysia so it’s a similar 10 course concept with similar dishes.
